Get Ready for the 14th Annual Media SharkTank!

As fall rapidly approaches, we are excited to announce a unique and impactful event that has been a staple in our calendar for the past 14 years. The 14th Annual Media SharkTank, proudly sponsored by 10Fold, is scheduled for the evening of September 10, 2024, at the beautiful El Prado Hotel in Palo Alto, CA.

What is Media SharkTank?
Inspired by the popular TV show “Shark Tank,” Media SharkTank brings together a formidable group of business, broadcast, and top-tier tech media professionals. These “sharks” are divided into groups of four or five and placed in private rooms, ready to hear pitches from executives eager to showcase their companies and / or new solutions.

How Does It Work?
Executives present their pitches one at a time, each having three minutes to make their case in a private setting. There are no cameras, no audience, no slide decks, and no props—just a pure, unfiltered pitch. The media sharks use a scoring system to evaluate the messages they hear and identify what’s missing from the pitch that they would need for a compelling story. After each presentation, the spokesperson receives up to two minutes of feedback from each shark, offering invaluable insights and media training.

The Value of Media SharkTank
While the sharks might not always agree on the best way to tell a story, spokespeople walk away with a clear understanding of what matters most to these influential journalists. This direct feedback is often more insightful than traditional PR coaching, giving executives a unique opportunity to refine their messaging and build relationships with key media figures.

Event Highlights

  • Two Pitch Rounds: Each spokesperson gets to present in two different rooms, reaching up to 10 media professionals.
  • Networking and Entertainment: Between pitch rounds, attendees can enjoy delicious food, a hosted bar, and entertaining activities in a grand ballroom setting.
  • Charity Focus: Each participating executive makes a $1,495 donation to BayKeeper, a charity dedicated to keeping our Bay clean. At the end of the evening, we present an oversized check to BayKeeper, celebrating the contributions and impact of the event.
