What did you most recently get recognized for as embodying our tenet of TAFFI (Teamwork, Accountability, Fun, Fascination and Integrity)?
Teamwork is a rule that I live by so any TAFFI is to be shared by all my 10Fold teammates as it can’t all be done by one person. We secure the results our clients need and go above and beyond every day. And that goes just beyond just the workday – whether it is at work, home or in my Girl Scout troop – you get the best results when you all work towards a common goal. And it is the only way you can manage to sell hundreds of boxes of cookies every year! “There is no I in team.”- Unknown
What is something you have learned while working at 10Fold that has aided your success?
Two things stand out: 1) Math can be your friend! As many PR professionals would say, we got into this career path as we don’t like math and numbers. However, my outlook is changing as 10Fold embraces data-driven results and reporting to all clients. And 2) PR is fun! When you laugh daily with your team, that sense of camaraderie boosts you better than a jolt of caffeine in the morning.
What advice would you give someone who is just starting out in their career?
Embrace all your experiences – the highs and the lows. You will grow in your career with each instance. Don’t be afraid of hearing a reporter tell you “no” or receiving red-lines on your content. Rather, smile and say thank you for the feedback! A positive attitude takes the sting out of the negative. As the Girl Scout motto says, “Be Prepared” for all the ups and downs that come your way (and having a Girl Scout cookie always helps you feel better too! 😊)
Do you have a favorite hobby?
Outside of 10Fold, life is busy with two teenagers at home. However, community volunteering is a big part, especially in running a Girl Scout troop for the past 11 years and planning events for all the troops in my town. Giving back to those in your town is a positive aspect as well as providing girls with new experiences whether it is their first overnight in a tent in the woods to how to forage for wild herbs and mushrooms to cooking a new recipe. And of course, you must count all the smiles from everyone visiting your cookie booth, because who can say no to box of Carmel Delights, Thin Mints or Peanut Butter Patties!
What is one thing that 10Fold does that you love that stands out from other agencies?
10Fold is an agency that stands by its word and what it believes in. When we say we are trusted partner, and we deliver on our results – we do just that. The MetricMatters methodology is unique and embraced by every member on our team. But it’s not just our company philosophy, it is truly the team that is the heart and soul of 10Fold. The encouraging atmosphere cannot be discounted along with the strong principle in teamwork.
Why did you decide to join 10Fold?
The company culture and the people! Other agencies state that they ‘work hard and play hard’, but 10Fold embraces it. We have fun here everyday regardless of packed schedules, deadlines and other concerns. It’s true that “life is better when you’re laughing” (Sam Glen). It’s this lesson that I hope to bring to my troop as they get ready in a few years to go off to college and their next adventures.
What’s your favorite thing to do in Boston?
Visiting the North End, Faneuil Hall, the Freedom Trail and other popular sites are always great to check out and, of course, finding a new treat to sample is not a bad thing either! And if it is December-February, keep your eyes out for those girls in green, brown or tan vests who are dwarfed by stacks of boxes for the best treats of all – Girl Scout cookies! (Can you tell I have preference for them?) I’d recommend taking some time to find a spot and sit back to relax and watch the world go by whether it is on the Common, Post Office Square or by the Harbor.
What differentiates 10Fold from other agencies in the industry?
Our difference is derived from our CEO Susan Thomas. From the time she started 10Fold, she has created a unique agency that equally prioritizes clients and her teams. Whether that is through creating data-driven methodologies and processes that work that truly support their business goals or cultivating a team of smart, fun, confident individuals that make coming in daily a enjoyable activity, she found the ‘secret cookie’ recipe to make it successful.
